Meet NASCAR Driver Clint Bowyer

Driver of the No. 33 Hartford Chevrolet

Clint Bowyer began his career racing street stocks, graduating to NASCAR Weekly Racing Series in 2002. In his first full NASCAR season in 2003 (Midwest Series), Bowyer caught the eye of NASCAR legend Richard Childress, signing on with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) to run the Busch series in 2004.

Meet NASCAR Driver Clint BowyerSplitting time with Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer ran half of the 34 races in 2004, winning one pole and achieving seven top 10 finishes. In 2005, his first full year in the Busch series, Bowyer finished 2nd overall behind repeat-series champion Martin Truex Jr.. That same year, Clint made his debut in the NEXTEL Cup at Phoenix, finishing 22nd. Later that year, RCR announced that Clint would run full time for the 2006 series NEXTEL Cup series in the #07 car.

In 2006, Clint Bowyer started every race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, finishing 2nd in Rookie of the Year voting behind Denny Hamlin. He continued to drive full time in the Nationwide Series, winning once and finishing 3rd overall. Bowyer’s meteoric rise continued in 2007 and 2008, when he made the NSCS Chase in both years, finishing third and fifth overall.

In 2009, Clint Bowyer switched to the #33 car, joining forces with The Hartford Racing. Clint ran The Hartford Chevrolet in the races at Dover, DE (11th place, May 31st ), Loudon, NH (20th place, June 28th), and Pocono, (3rd place, August 3rd). Clint finished the season fifteenth overall, finishing the year strong with top-20 finishes in each of the last 7 races.

In 2010, Clint will drive The Hartford Chevrolet at Darlington, SC (May 8th), Pocono (August 1st) and Fontana, CA (October 10th).

Before he climbed behind the wheel, Clint was racing Motocross (he started at age 5). Off the track, Bowyer is a huge Elvis Presley fan; one of his main off-track highlights of 2005 was meeting Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, during the Busch Series race weekend in Memphis. Bowyer's favorite sports teams to follow are University of Kansas basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Recorded second career NSCS win on May 3, 2008 at Richmond International Raceway in 83rd start
Won the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers championship after posting one win, 14 top-five and 29 top-10 finishes in 35 starts.
In his breakout sophomore season (2007), Bowyer earned his first berth in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and finished third in points, logging one win, two poles, five top-five and 17 top-10 finishes.
Recorded first career NSCS win September 16, 2007 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 64th career start. Won first career NSCS pole May 11, at Darlington (S.C) Raceway in 48th career start.
Named driver of the No. 07 Chevrolet for the 2006 NSCS season and earned four top-five and 11 top-10 finishes en route to a runner-up finish in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.
Rolled to a third-place finish in the 2006 NNS championship points on the heels of one win, two poles, 12 top-five and 17 top-10 finishes in RCR's No. 2 Chevrolet.
Earned two wins, two poles, 12 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes while driving RCR's No. 2 Chevy to a runner-up finish in the 2005 NNS championship points.
Recorded first NNS win at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway June 11, in 32nd career start.
Made NSCS debut April 23, 2005 at Phoenix International Raceway where he started 25th and finished 22nd driving RCR's No. 33 Chevrolet.
Spent 2004 sharing driving duties with Kevin Harvick in RCR's No. 21 Chevrolet in the NNS. In 17 starts, Bowyer earned his first career pole at Talladega (Ala.) Speedway, in his third career start, four top-five and seven top-10 finishes. Additionally, he made one start for Andy Petree Racing and two starts for Kevin Harvick Inc.
Made two Automobile Racing Club of America starts in 2003 and caught Childress' eye after leading 47 laps on the way to a second-place finish in his ARCA Series debut at Nashville Superspeedway.
Earned 2002 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Midwest championship following a second Modified championship at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., and a Late Model crown at 1-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo.
Captured 18 wins and 32 top-five finishes in 40 starts en route to the 2001 Modified championships at Lakeside Speedway and Heartland Park Topeka (Kan.).
Won 2000 Modified championship at Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan.
Made the transition to four wheels in 1996 racing street stocks at Thunderhill Speedway.
